Back in January, we had the absolute pleasure of filming a spot for Regional Contact. Joel Haslam spent 2 days at our bakery and we are so excited to see it all come together.

Our retail location will still be open for our regular selection, but we will not be able to take any more pre-orders for Saturday pick-up. You can find us @Wed By Hand on Saturday from 11am – 5pm at the Glebe Community Centre!

Hey everyone! We are participating in Snowblower 2012, which is a 4 day festival to celebrate and educate guys into guys! Ottawa has so much to offer the gay community, and this is an opportunity to discover the many social groups, sports clubs, services, businesses and more ! As many of you know, we underwent some major renovations over the holiday season. If you had stopped in to the shop beforehand, you would know that our space was, well, cramped. We had our own office space, which was nice, but we spent most of our time in the baking area! On top of that, we had a lot of feedback requesting a small seating area where our customers could sit down with a treat and a cup of coffee or tea.

Considering we do our very best to accommodate to the customers’ wishes, we decided to take the plunge and tear the place up! Mandi’s father-in-law took over, and it took a mere 2 days for the space to transform from what we once knew, into a brand new spot. Once the big stuff was out of the way, Mandi and I reorganized the entire place… we both had this feeling of nervousness before everything got started. After all, we’d been working in the same set-up for over 2 years! Opening up the retail location to have a sit-down area was a really big step. As we started to put the bakery back together, any nervousness we had soon dissipated.

In our humble opinion, the place looks amazing. The general consensus is that the entire building looks to have grown 5 feet width-wise; we actually get natural light in to the baking space and everything!

We are so excited to bring to you our new bakery. We invite to come on by, grab a treat and a cup of coffee!

About Us: Take a minute to read about the history of the bakery, and how we got to where we are today. • VENDOR REQUEST LETTER  This is definitely a brand new feature of the site! We have created a letter than can be printed out and presented to your favourite local shop or restaurant. It expresses that there is a desire in Ottawa for vegan treats, and that we are able to provide wholesale prices for those that are looking to sell our desserts! Many businesses don’t realize that there is a demand for delicious vegan desserts, so this is our way to help spread the word. Let us know if you drop a letter off somewhere so we can follow up!
  

Weddings: Recently engaged?? Looking for information about what we can offer for weddings? We have put all of our information in one place! If you knew about us before seeing this new site, you may remember that we had 2 websites… one for the bakery and one for the weddings. It was just too much to maintain! So we’ve integrated the two sites to make everyone’s lives easier. We’ve created a photo album of many of our cakes to date, added some testimonials, and created an FAQ for you to get many answers quickly.

Additionally, we’ve created a list of wedding vendors that we have worked with in the past or that we know come highly recommended. The best part? All of them are 100% pride-friendly!
