Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba…
Standing well over six feet tall…
Bringing over 3 years expertise to Auntie Loo`s Treats…
It’s…
MATTHEW TICE!
(cue glitter cannons!)
After traveling around Europe and New Zealand for 18 months, Mattycakes decided to move to Ottawa to attend Le Cordon Bleu in order to hone his baking skills. Matt came to us looking to get some volunteer experience after graduation. It didn’t take long for him to prove himself as a hardworking, talented baker, and we took him on as permanent staff. His gourmet background gives us new edge to our treats, and he is always looking to create new and exciting flavours! Matt’s presence is always felt at the bakery, even when he’s not there – we are constantly climbing step ladders to check for spatulas and spoons that’s he’s left on top of shelves that we can’t even reach! Guess that’s what happens when you’re at least a foot taller than everyone else that works with you… =)
Recently, we’ve also handed over the craft sale & event reigns to Matty. For the most part, you will now find Matt behind the Auntie Loo’s table at most of our off-site shows! He loves to meet new people and you should hear his sales pitch … impossible to resist!
When Matt isn`t baking, you can find him doing yoga, hanging out with friends, enjoying great food at local restaurants, dancing to great music by locals artist, and generally LOVING what Ottawa has to offer… and at the end of the day, let’s be honest, he’ll still be finding time to bake!
